Lightbourne v. Printroom, Inc., et al
The Paynter Law Firm has filed a class-action lawsuit on behalf of NCAA student-athletes whose images have been sold or affixed to merchandise sold on the internet. The complaint alleges that the website Printroom.com conspires with numerous colleges and universities to market and sell thousands of photographs of active and former college athletes without offering them compensation or obtaining their consent. By permitting the defendants to use archival photographs of student-athletes, the schools violate strict NCAA rules which explicitly prohibit them from commercially exploiting the names, images, and likenesses of NCAA student athletes. The Paynter Law Firm is co-counsel in this action with Hagens Berman Sobol and Shapiro LLP. If you are an active or former NCAA student athlete whose image has been sold online, please contact The Paynter Law Firm.
