Paynter Law
Your Dedicated Legal Team
Paynter Law was founded in response to an identified need for quality, dedicated representation for individuals, consumers, and businesses. Our attorneys possess top-notch legal training, a diverse skill set, essential litigation experience, and are licensed in states across the U.S., including North Carolina, California, New York, the District of Columbia, New Mexico, and Tennessee.
We have extensive experience working with complex, document-intensive cases. To manage these cases, we utilize innovative software that increases our effectiveness and efficiency when it comes to document review, e-discovery, productions, metadata analysis, and coding. We also have experience working with forensic and IT experts when needed to identify, recover, and analyze documents and information stored on protected devices such as encrypted servers and hard drives.
Small Firm. National Experience. Proven Results.
Paynter Law was founded over ten years ago in Washington, D.C. by Stuart Paynter. The firm found nearly immediate success and national recognition, and additional offices were opened in North Carolina within only a few years. Paynter Law provides the kind of accessible, personalized legal services often found with smaller firms, along with the diverse, in-depth, and high-level experience and knowledge of a national firm. Our logo for Paynter Law, featuring a rhino, is a powerful embodiment of the firm’s values: toughness, dependability, and the ability to make a significant impact despite its boutique size.

Working With Us
When you hire Paynter Law, you’re not hiring one attorney – you’re hiring an entire legal team dedicated to providing you with personal legal service customized to fit the facts of your case.
Paynter Law typically represents clients solely on a contingency fee basis, even with our complex litigation matters. Under a contingency fee arrangement, we advance costs such as litigation and trial expenses, discovery costs, and expert witness fees, and our clients do not owe us costs until we win their case. Although may clients prefer a contingency fee arrangement, we also have some clients who prefer an hourly or mixed fee arrangement. At Paynter Law, our goal is to work with our clients and referral attorneys to identify their legal and financial needs. We then develop and implement effective solutions to achieve the best result possible.
We also work with other attorneys and law firms who are interested in partnering with our firm. If you’re an attorney, we would be happy to talk with you about co-counsel, local counsel, or referral fee arrangements.
The Paynter Law Firm is made up of the most talented and understanding professionals I’ve ever met…They found materials throughout discovery that I thought were gone. They use the most impressive software and have extremely diligent people reviewing materials in hours that I would have thought to take months…They never made me feel uncomfortable throughout the case, were always appreciative of my thoughts or notes, and they always had my back!

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an attorney?
Whether or not you need an attorney or lawyer will likely depend on factors such as which state you live in, what kind of case you have, and the facts of your case. That said, if you are likely to need a lawyer but decide to try and handle your case by yourself first, a lawyer may find it difficult or even impossible to effectively step in on your behalf later on. At Paynter Law, we offer a free, no obligation review of your case, so before you decide whether to hire a lawyer or which lawyer to hire, give us a call.
Do you take my kind of case? How much will it cost?
We handle cases involving commercial litigation, contract disputes, intellectual property matters, consumer protection cases, antitrust litigation, class actions, auto accidents, motorcycle accidents, tractor-trailer accidents, wrongful death, exploding lithium-ion batteries, insurance disputes, and more. If you work with us on a contingency fee basis, you will not pay anything up front, and you only pay costs and attorney fees at the very end of your case and only if we win your case.
