Mark McGrath
Mr. McGrath received his law degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he graduated with honors and served on the North Carolina Law Review. Mr. McGrath has served in leadership roles with the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, including a term as chair for the NCAJ professional negligence section. Before transitioning to a practice representing injured people Mr. McGrath practiced at large firms in North Carolina and New York where he represented insurance carriers and corporations as defense counsel. These roles included work at a law firm that served as regional counsel for a large insurance carrier defending against negligent security claims.
Mr. McGrath has written dozens of published articles regarding personal injury and medical malpractice issues and has regularly spoken at seminars and continuing education classes regarding matters of interest to attorneys who represent injured people.
Prior to joining Paynter Law Mr. McGrath was a partner at two prominent personal injury law firms in the Durham area where he engineered some of the largest personal injury recoveries in the state of North Carolina for the years in which they were achieved. These included a workplace injury matter in which a worker was severely burned in an industrial accident that yielded a recovery in excess of six million dollars and a medical malpractice case that settled prior to trial for more than five million dollars.
